Welcome to
NUR MINOS
50MW CSP Project
Utilizing the Sun's endless energy supply
Meet nur minos
The Project
NUR – MINOS Heliothermal Single Member S.A. is a Greek corporation and a subsidiary of NUR ENERGIE, a multi-technology solar power plant international developer and investor focusing on Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East with a project portfolio of 2,570MW under development using various technologies including CSP Tower, PV, BIPV and CPV.
NUR – MINOS Heliothermal has developed a Concentrated Solar Power Tower Project with 5h storage and 52MWe capacity to be constructed in the island of Crete, Greece

Our aim & Vision
Our Aim
Our Aim is the utter exploitation of the sun which is an unlimited green energy source in abundancy, especially in Greece and even more in Southern Greece where Crete is located, through the materialization of a CSP Tower Project using all latest technological means available in the technical world such as the Molten Salt technology and with Power Storage ability thus providing a sustainable power generation solution with zero-waste production.

Our Vision
Our Vision is to be pioneers in the provision of new, alternative, completely sustainable and green solutions in energy production so that countries with an abundancy of renewable resources like Greece, can effectively escape the old, obsolete and harmful power production processes involving the use of fossils fuels for their needs.
Our Philosophy
Our Philosophy is to control the entire development process in-house thus ensuring rigorous quality control along each step of the value chain, meeting financial requirements, technical feasibility and implementation criteria with a final aim of creating innovative facilities that can serve, uphold and celebrate our company’s acronym which is Minimum Intermittency Operating System.
In addition, it is more than important to us to have the local communities involved through a community integration plan and their education with regard to the environmental advantages that such a Project shall bring to their land in order to be able to have a positive social impact.

Our
Technology
Solar Field
The Project uses Concentrated Solar Thermal Technology and consists of thousands of sun-tracking mirrors which reflect the sun to the top of the Tower. This innovative technology permits energy generation in much larger amounts than in PVs. The required adjustments of the mirrors during the sun’s course within a day is performed automatically.
Molen Salt Circuit
A molten salt mixture is heated by the concentrated solar radiation and is stored in a tank on the ground. The heated salt is used to transfer its heat to water to generate steam which activates a steam turbine with a turning motion to generate electricity.

Power Plant
Project Description
The Plant is Ready-to-Build, the PPA (for 25 years) is to be signed with a fixed tariff of 268€/MWh.
The Project has been awarded a 42m€ subsidy by the European Union under the NER300 program. More specifically, the subsidy provides an additional tariff of 115€/MWh (disbursed during the operational years until 31.12.2025).
Project Location
The site is located on the island of Crete, in Sitia Municipality, in the southeastern coastal area of Atherinolakos. It can be accessed by a good quality 2-lane tarmac road. The site is adjacent to the industrial zone of the Atherinolakos conventional power station, owned by the Public Power Corporation, and rated at 200MWe.
The choice of locations for the development of the project was based on a number of considerations that are of critical importance to both the construction and the operation of the project.
Project Benefits
-
Displaces 118 GWh per year of oil-based generation
-
Saves at least 30,000 tons of oil consumption that the island can use otherwise
-
Baseload renewable energy power without intermittency issues of wind / PV
-
New technology hub for CSP in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean in general
-
Geographically isolated from populated and touristic areas
-
Connected to the backbone of the Crete electricity grid due to its proximity with the conventional power station
-
All equipment can be delivered in the nearby port
Permitting Status & Legal Framework
Permitting Status
-
All main permits for the project have been granted.
-
Remaining permits are:
-
Signing the PPA which is a standard document agreed, no negotiation is possible, and get granted the Building Permit.
-
Legal Framework
-
The Law: Law 4414/2016 establishes a Feed-in Tariff system for CSP on the islands. It also establishes the principles of the European Union Target model which makes the Greek electricity market compatible and compliant with EU directives and the rest of the European Electricity Market.
-
The Grid Code: The islands have their own Grid Code, the Code of Non-Interconnected Islands. This Grid Code outlines the framework of RE operation in the islands. It establishes a CSP operational framework and market participation.
-
The PPA: The PPA for CSP on the islands is a standard text which has been published. The PPA sets a guaranteed purchase of electricity generated by the CSP plant in order to ensure maximum absorption to the Grid.
NER 300
The project has been awarded a subsidy by the European Union under the NER300 program (disbursed during the operational years until 31.12.2025).
